Running in the family

The apples didn't fall too far from the tree, and Teng's three sons, Chuah Siew Teng (born in 1944), Chuah Seow Keng (1945) and Chuah Siew Kek (1947) are all renowned batik artists in their own right. Their works have been displayed in international exhibitions, commissioned by multinational companies and featured in UNICEF greetings cards.

Like his father before him, the critically acclaimed and award-winning works of eldest son Chuah Siew Teng have also been shown at international exhibitions. One of his paintings entitled The Monkeys is featured in a UNICEF greeting card. Siew Teng had won many art awards even before obtaining a formal art education at the Ravensburne College of Art and City & Guild Art School in England in 1965. His art focuses on a modernist interpretation of Malaysian culture.
